A photograph of a monument to John Savery, in St. Michael's Church, Cornwood, Dartmoor, Devon. The monument depicts a small child lying beneath an inscription, with a short verse below the figure. The Savery coat of arms can also be seen.

The inscription reads: "Near this Place Lyeth the Body of Mr John Savery Son of William Savery of Slide Esqr By Prudence his Wife Daughter of John Drake of IveyBridge Esqr who Departed This Life the 21 of february 1696."

The verse reads: "This infant fled from our admiring sight

                           His Stay Soe Short, Soe Sudden was his flight

                           That he has taught us By his hasting hence

                           That th' Earth's too vile for Soe much innocence

                           Reader Relent Since thou noe more Shall See

                           This Matchless Childe but in his Effigie."
