Artist notes/journal, dated 23rd and 24th July 1819.

The River from Lyn & Lynmouth & Linton Very romantic.
Turner reported the higher part of the River to be of a wild
Character. The Rocks are in [Raised?] fine [???] in the
Bed of the river. the Colour of them particularly Beautiful
the lichens very Rich & varied. Clouds rolling very
low over the sea up the sides of the Cliffs & over their
tops. - July 23rd 1819.

The Cliffs on the Sea Shore to the Eastward of Lynmouth
very fine the Colouring Rich.
Saw the [floating?] Water very clearly to day the Colour of
the Purest Blue Grey the Line of Dark Shadow on the
water much Darker than the distance gave the mountains
[all?] the appearance of being at an immense distance.
The valley of Rocks worthy attention some future time
Particularly from a very high Point looking West
ward. The Subject is Sublime---
Lynmouth I must revisit at some future period
for many Subjects are yet [??] for Study-
the Small River had not [???] to Examine,-
The Road Runs very near the East Cliff above those
Rocks I sketched from- July 24 1819.
