River Teign from Dunsford Bridge to Cliffords
Bridge.- Near Mill in Drewsteignton Parish ½
a mile from Cliffords Bridge-
The view from Preston Bury. Looking down the
River, before you attain the highest point.- Fingal
Bridge & the village of Drewsteignton from the
ledge of rocks below the highest point-
The [???] Stone of Capt [Bailys?] Park on the opposite
Side of the river. The trees & rocky [???] in the
Park [???]- looking down the River from a field
by the river side nearly opposite the house. The
foreground very good.
The view from a small farm belonging to [Mr?]
Lambert the Woods of [Newton?] [fellow?] [E.g] forming
the middle distance. The town of Chagford contains
many picturesque houses in. July 5th & 6th 1819.
-Went from Moreton to Lustleigh Cleve found it
much more beautiful than the description given
to me. The day was remarkably fine for Effect &
the Colouring good & mellow-
Lustleigh Cleve is one of the places strangers
ought to see when they visit Devon Shire-
The whole valley from North Bovey is worth
Exploring & there are many [points?] [I?] [??] worth
Studies which I have not drawn or Sketched.
Moreton should be the [??} of [??] or
the Village of [???] or North Bovey.
The Hill overlooking Moreton on the Exeter
road presents nothing worthy of notice.
The Effects were occasioned by Clouds [under-
cutting?] the sun light on the Different distances
Partially- July 7th.--.
