Notes from the artist

[Working transcription below]:

River Teign from Dunsford Bridge to Cliffords

Bridge.- Near Mill in Drewsteignton Parish ½

a mile from Cliffords Bridge-

The view from Preston Bury. Looking down the

River, before you attain the highest point.- Fingal

Bridge & the village of Drewsteignton from the

ledge of rocks below the highest point-

The [???] Stone of Capt [Bailys?] Park on the opposite

Side of the river. The trees & rocky [???] in the

Park [???]- looking down the River from a field

by the river side nearly opposite the house. The

foreground very good.

The view from a small farm belonging to [Mr?]

Lambert the Woods of [Newton?] [fellow?] [E.g] forming

the middle distance. The town of Chagford contains

many picturesque houses in.      July 5th & 6th 1819.

-Went from Moreton to Lustleigh Cleve found it

much more beautiful than the description given

to me. The day was remarkably fine for Effect &

the Colouring good & mellow-

Lustleigh Cleve is one of the places strangers

ought to see when they visit Devon Shire-

The whole valley from North Bovey is worth

Exploring & there are many [points?] [I?] [??] worth

Studies which I have not drawn or Sketched.

Moreton should be the [??} of [??] or

the Village of [???] or North Bovey.

The Hill overlooking Moreton on the Exeter

road presents nothing worthy of notice.

The Effects were occasioned by Clouds [under-

cutting?] the sun light on the Different distances

Partially- July 7th.--.
