Exeter Diocesan Architectural Society

The Exeter Diocesan Architectural Society was established in 1841 to report on the fabric of Devon’s churches and to approve designs for new churches. Many leading West Country architects belonged to the Society in the 19th century, including most of the leading architects engaged in Victorian church restoration. These scrapbooks include unique architectural records of buildings that the Society’s members considered significant; the collection comprises drawings of medieval churches, stained-glass windows and other monuments.
